Excel 2013 allows you to change the background theme. The default theme is white and can come across to some users as very bright and difficult to work with for long periods of time. Fear not though as Excel 2013 does allow you change this and other theme settings. In this article we will look at how this is done.
One thing to take note of before you start changing the theme layout is that if you are using other Office 2013 applications like Word, Outlook etc. the theme selection you make will be applied to all other Office 2013 applications.
If you are logged in to Office 2013 through your Microsoft account the theme changes you make will also be applied to all other devices logged into the same account.

How to change the theme.
Click the File tab and select Options from the left menu. This will open the Excel Options dialog box.
The General tab should be selected by default, if not click on General.
In the Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office section you will see the office theme drop-down menu.
Select a theme and click OK to return to the your worksheet and see the theme applied.
