Selecting Cells

You can select a single cell, multiple cells, a contiguous group of cells or even a non-contiguous group of cells.
In this article we will show you examples of all these options.

Select A Single Cell

To select a single cell hover over the cell and click once.
In this example we have selected cell B2

  • The selected cell will have a green border.
  • The cell address will be displayed in the Name Box.
  • The text or formula in the cell will be displayed in the Formula Bar.
  • The Column for the selected cell will be shaded.
  • The Row for the selected cell will be shaded.

Select Multiple Single Cells

To select multiple single cells…

  • Select the first cell.
  • Hold down the Ctrl key.
  • Select the other cells you require.

The cells selected will be shaded grey.

Select A Contiguous Group of Cells

To select a contiguous groupĀ of cells.

Click the first cell.
Hold the click and drag across the range of cells required.

Select A Non-Contiguous Group of Cells

To select a non-contiguous group of cells

Click the first cell.
Hold the click and drag across the range required.
Hold down the Ctrl key.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 to select another range.
